Place du Trocadero

At the summit of the Chaillot Hill, the Place du Trocadéro (aka 'November 11 Square') is located in the 16th district of Paris. It comes out into the 'Droits de l'Homme' ('Human Rights') forecourt. This forecourt is surrounded by both wings of the Palais de Chaillot, a neoclassical construction erected for the 1937 World's Fair at the site of the old Palais du Trocadéro, itself built on the occasion of the World's Fair of 1878.

This hill is also referred to 'colline des musées' and not without a reason, since the Palais hosts many, such as the "Musée de l'Homme", the "Musée de la Marine", the "Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine" and the "Théâtre national de Chaillot".

The Trocadéro Gardens, bordered by centenarian trees, spread out over the hill sprinkled with many statues and, down under, the 'fontaine de Varsovie', composed by several cascading ponds and adorned with water cannons.

The forecourt grants a flawless panoramic view of the Eiffel Tower with an open perspective of the Parisian sky as a background, particularly enchanting during the fireworks of the 14th of July (the French National Day). In the close-up, gardens and forecourt. At the foot of the monument, the 'Pont d'Iéna', the Seine River meandering in the background, the vast Champ-de-Mars field with its shiny green lawn, cozy tree-paths and the military school in the horizon.

Each and every night, this place is a poetic monument embraced by the Parisian night, when the Eiffel Tower brims with a thousand sparkling needle-like bulks and its projected-light competing with the sky. This scintillating spectacle shines, each hour, for five minutes until 1:00 am.
