The Neighbourhood of Montmartre is an ancient village in the 18th arrondissement which was annexed to Paris in 1860. Close to the district of Pigalle, it is located to the North of the capital, on the “Butte Montmartre” 130m tall hill.

The Montmartre district: a Parisian village

At the top of a 237 steps climb, sits majestically the Sacré Coeur Basilica which is the monument that reaches the highest into the Parisian sky, alongside the Eiffel Tower. From its forecourt, one can discover one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the capital. On a clear day, an onlooker can see all around for 30 miles. Barely a stone’s throw away from the Basilica is the Place du Tertre, a lively square where artists will be delighted to do your portrait for the first time. Surrounded by quaint little streets and alleys you can find an information desk, press kiosk and the Espace Dali dedicated to the surrealist painter.
