A few minutes after leaving the town of Beaune, you will be surrounded by an ocean of vines! The scenic drive through the vineyard (and some famous villages such as Aloxe-Corton, Nuits-St-Georges, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée etc.) will make you experience the Côte de Nuits for real! We will also stop in the middle of the vineyard to give you a clear and entertaining presentation of the classification of the wines from Burgundy.
10.30am: Tour and wine tasting at a family estate.
Nowadays, Burgundy wines are first the result of natural elements (the soil, the underground etc.) but also of centuries of the experience. In the many family-run estates of the region, the “savoir-faire” of the winemakers passed down from generation to generation. For the first wine tasting of the day, you will discover the authenticity of Burgundy in a “domaine” where your glass will be poured with elegant white and red wines. On our way to lunch, we will stop by the famous Romanée-Conti plot. It is from this very small plot that the most expensive wine of the world comes from!
12.30: Free time for lunch in Gevrey-Chambertin. Our guide will recommend a few restaurants.
02:30pm: Guided tour of the Chateau du Clos de Vougeot.
This is one of the must-see monuments of the region! For centuries, the monks developed the vineyard and took care of the vines. They also built a magnificent chateau in the middle of the Grand Cru plot “Clos de Vougeot”. Nowadays, the chateau is the headquarters of a “confrérie”: the brotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin. Several times a year, the “brothers” of the brotherhood gather in order to honor the fabulous wines and the exquisite food of Burgundy.
04.00pm: Tour and wine tasting in a domain in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Before heading back to Beaune, you will stop at a winery in Nuits-Saint-Georges. There, your tour guide will tell you all the secrets of the winemaking. You will get the chance to see all the equipment the winemakers use to process the grapes and transform them into wine! Later on, by tasting lovely white and red Burgundy wines, you will enjoy the diversity of the wines that are produced in this winery.
05.30 pm: your guide will drive you back to Beaune Tourist Office. On Saturdays, the drop off can be arranged at the Dijon train station at 06.00pm.
