Enjoy a guided tour of Notre Dame's towers and discover the secrets within.
Join our PARISCityVISION guide in front of the towers at 16 rue du Cloitre Notre Dame. They will take you directly to the foot of Notre Dame's towers to begin your climb. While you have priority access, security checks can slow down entry to the towers. The towers make up the front of Notre Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of gothic architecture.
Our guide will take you on an unforgettable experience as you climb the 422 steps to reach the top of the towers, where you can enjoy a unique panorama over Paris and Ile-de-la-Cité. There will be several stops on your climb to admire some of the tower's important elements.
Towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris
You will reach the room atop the north tower where two high windows recall those present on the cathedral's doors. Then, you will reach the hall of chimeras that link the north and south towers where you can get an up-close look at the famous gargoyles located at the ends of Notre Dame's gutters. You will also find 56 chimeras, the most famous of which is the vampire that represents an evil spirit of the night from eastern legends. These were installed when the cathedral was restored in 1845. Then, you will enter the bell tower that houses the largest bell of Notre Dame. Called "Bourdon Emmanuel", this 13-ton bell will undoubtedly remind you of Victor Hugo's novel. Finally, you will reach the terrace where you can enjoy a superb 360° panorama over the historical heart of Paris. Look out at the breathtaking view of Ile-de-la-Cité and Paris. At nearly 70 meters high, you can see the Eiffel Tower on the horizon, the Seine that cuts through Paris, the Invalides and Sacré-Coeur standing watch over Montmartre.
Our guide will leave you at the tower exit, and you can continue your exploration of the Ile-de-la-Cité at your leisure.
