Discover the regions of Reims and Champagne in a cosy atmosphere, in small group. Accompanied by an experienced driver-guide, you will visit the small town of Hautvillers, have lunch in a traditional restaurant in Epernay and learn all you need to know about making Champagne. You will enjoy a guided tour of the Mumm House and an independent vineyard. This getaway will be punctuated by some delicious Champagne tastings.

Departure at 7 a.m. from our Louvre agency in Paris, in minibus to Champagne valley. 

During the journey, you will appreciate the comments of your guide about the history of this famous drink, invented in the late seventeenth century by the Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon. You will make a first photo stop in the charming village of Hautvillers where you can take beautiful shots of the valley. The abbey welcomed the monk Dom Pérignon from 1668 until his death in 1715. He was the inventor of the winemaking process and raised the abbey to the forefront in the wine industry.You will fall under the charm of the narrow streets of this picturesque village and enjoy the many hillsides’ sights of the Champagne.

You will continue your day with a guided tour of an independent vineyard. Depending on the time of the year, you will discover a key step in the production of Champagne: pressing, fermentation or bottling. 

After this tour, you will head off to “La cave à Champagne” restaurant in Epernay and enjoy a traditional lunch:

In the afternoon, you will be driven to Reims to visit the famous Mumm House. Founded in 1827, its cellars stock around 25 million bottles, that are decorated by the red ribbon brand emblem. Afterwards, you can stroll in the 218 hectares vineyard and discover the secrets of this emblematic house of Champagne production. 

Your getaway will end with a free glass of Champagne. You will leave the city of Reims to arrive at our agency in Paris around 6pm.

  • While the grape harvest season is taking place between mid-August and end of September, wine making is carried out from mid-September till end of October
  • The temperature in the cellars is quite low (around 10°): make sure you have warm clothes for the visit of the cellars
  • You can buy Champagne on-site
  • This tour is not accessible for people with reduced mobility
