The Palace of Versailles is well known as the Royal residence of French Kings, but also for its wonderful masterpiece of famous artists such as André Le Nôtre who drew the gardens and Charles Le Brun the sculptures.
Our 1-day Tour in Versailles offers the opportunity to focus on an original theme: the culinary habits and Royal food. Indeed, in order to supply food to the thousands members of the royal court, Louis XIV asked the agronomist Jean Baptiste de la Quintinie to create a fabulous kitchen garden.
Your gastronomic tour in Versailles will start in the morning with a gourmet guided walk in the famous food market dating from 1841. Our guide will propose several tastings of local products.
Afterwards, you discover the stories and anecdotes of the king's kitchen garden as well as the royal menus of the Kings period. During this visit, you will learn that JB de la Quintinie was the first to create greenhouses in order to supply off season fruits and vegetables, all year long !
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the whole estate of Versailles Palace, including the Castle, the Park and its gardens, the Estate of Trianon, the temporary exhibitions and the Coach gallery.
