Famous for its luxury apartments and its private mansions, the Île Saint-Louis has a privileged location in the heart of Paris. The Hôtel Lambert, built by the architect Louis le Vau, shows that the neighborhood seduced the rich bourgeois and the aristocrats of the 17th century. The Saint-Louis en l’Île Church, much more modest than the near Notre Dame Cathedral, remains a major lively place in the neighborhood and is worth lingering in.

With its beautiful facades and its straight streets, the Île Saint-Louis is a very tidy neighborhood, whose majesty never falls into coldness: cafés and shops punctuate here and there the successive houses and their regularly flowered facades. The architecture there is elegant, always refined but never excessively showing off. Among the hidden and original treasures of this place, you will find old court tennis, the ancestor of tennis, that became a luxury hotel.

Are you looking for a green haven? When visiting the Île Saint-Louis neighborhood, you will reach the west end of the island and the Square Barye, whose tip rips through the Seine river like the stem of a ship. The view here is breathtaking and the atmosphere is pleasant: in the evening, Parisians meet there to enjoy the view, play music or chat for hours. The Quai Bourbon and the Quai d’Anjou are also a nice place for taking a stroll on the Seine river’s banks Artists are fond of this unique setting: many painters settled there to work, writers find a new inspiration there, looking for the timeless soul of the city.

You will also have the opportunity to admire its buildings, its luxury apartments and its beautiful mansions from a cruise on the Seine: its romantic feel makes it a privileged getaway for lovers, Parisians or tourists. Many tourists barges sail on the river, all day and in the evening, to offer you a new point of view on Paris's most beautiful monuments.

The Île Saint-Louis is served by the metro station Pont Marie, and it may only be a stop in your guided visit to the city of Paris. The Pont Saint-Louis will take you to the Île de la Cité, the nearby neighborhood famous for its historical monuments such as Notre Dame de Paris, the Sainte-Chapelle or even the Conciergerie. Its privileged location in the heart of Paris allows you to enjoy some of the greatest treasures of the French capital: the Pont Marie, which crosses the river to the North, takes you right into the Marais neighborhood, only 600 meters from the famous Place des Vosges. Take the Pont de Sully and you will arrive at the Arab World Institute and the Jardin des Plantes.
