Our guide will explain how this emblematic French site has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Our guide will present the island’s attractions as you climb the Grande Rue leading up to the top of the Mont. This will take you to the magnificent Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, where you’ll receive a guided tour of this flagship monument. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michel, this Benedictine abbey is uniquely beautiful, just like its superb cloisters with their peaceful atmosphere. Its dark corridors contrast with the incredible light illuminating its newly remodeled central garden. Our guide will take you through the various rooms of the abbey, spread over three floors, explaining the daily life of the monks and the history of the building. You’ll see the cellar where the provisions were stored, admire the majestic chimneys of the Salle des hôtes (visitors’ dining room) and tour the immense refectory where the monks shared their meals. After a one-hour visit to the abbey, our guide will lead you outside, where you’ll have a chance to admire the exceptional view across the bay afforded by your vantage point at the top of this great rocky peak.

The ramparts of this magnificent fortress will provide you with a fantastic panorama of the sea. During your walk, you can also stop off in souvenir shops or taste specialties such as the famous Breton crêpe pancake or biscuits from Mère Poulard.

With these images fresh in your mind, you’ll meet up again with your guide for a 4:30pm departure for Paris. The scheduled time of arrival back at our Paris office is around 9:15pm, depending on traffic conditions.

The guide's communications as to what was going on were limited. The stop on the way to Mont Saint Michel was so crowded there was not time to use the bathroom. The food choices provided at these stops was extremely limited. In the past we have been on a lot of tours in several countries and this tour didn't measure up.
Enough free time with good guided tour
The guide could go little slower and wait for the whole group.
The tour was good overall. Our guide was very clear and helpful. She gave a thorough history and explanation of the Abbey. It was very well organized and a very easy, comfortable journey. The only downside was that our lunch was very bland and I would have liked to have more free time at the Abbey. I would still recommend it though. It's a easy and comfortable way to get to and from Mont St. Michel.
The site is amazing. The tour bus is comfortable but it is definitely a long ride (which can't be helped). I wish the tour guide would have gone a little bit faster through the abbey just so I would have had a few more moments to enjoy the town. Lunch wasn't amazing but I expected that based on other reviews I had read. Certainly edible, but that's about it.
I was a somewhat disappointed in our guided tour of Mont Saint-Michel. After a long bus ride from Paris, our tour bus stopped at a restaurant for a lunch included with the tour. The food is good, but the lunch took about an hour. The time could have been better spent at Mont Saint-Michel. After lunch we boarded a shuttle and traveled to the entrance of Mont Saint-Michel. At that time our tour guide announced that we would make our way to the abbey via many, many, many steps instead of winding our way through the village streets. Members of our group were in their 60s, 70s and 80s and some, including myself, had a hard time making their way up all of the steps at a rather quick pace. At the abbey our tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and provided wonderful information about the abbey. However, our group was English speaking and Spanish speaking. So, his comments were made in both languages and the tour took twice as long. When the abbey tour concluded, our tour guide said we had only 5 minutes spend in the gift shop. We then had to hurry down the ramparts to catch the shuttle back to our bus. We had no time to stroll the village streets surrounding the abbey. I believe that the audio tour would have been much better (and cheaper). With the audio tour, my husband and I could have skipped lunch so that more time could have been spent at Mont Saint-Michel.
Great! Lunch could be better, though.
