Seen from the outside, the Palais Garnier already catches your eyes by the immensity and the magnificence of the building. Step inside the Opera and let your professional guide lead you through the many paths the Opera counts. You will be captivated by stories, facts and legends related to the Opera Garnier. Your expert guide will describe you the sculptures and paintings that you will encounter along your tour, as well as incredible anecdotes.

The 19th century building is the largest Opera House in Europe. During this 90 minutes tour, you will learn about how the French society used to have its habits, you will feel the atmosphere that prevailed there and you will be impressed by the beauty of every single part of the Palais Garnier. Start your visit with your expert guide at the Rotonde des abonnés, once used as the formal welcome area for Opera guests. Learn about Charles Garnier, the architect who designed the building. Climb the sumptuous double stairway of the “Grand Escalier”. Get into the Auditorium to see the colorful ceiling painted by modernist artist Marc Chagall. Imagine the swish of crinolines as you admire the breathtaking décor and stroll through vast foyers, filled with sparkling mosaics, colorful marble columns and gold-leaf flourishes. Everywhere you look at will be a feast for the eyes!

The guide was excellent but the arrangement to pick up the ticket at the guided tour counter at the opera was poorly organized and even though I was half an hour early I spent so much time in line I was late for my tour

Tour itself was fantastic, great guide! One point deduction: first I had an 11:00 time slot. I received an email from somebody not seemingly connected with ParisCityVision telling me the tour starts at 10. Ok, so we showed up at 10. The tour didn’t actually start until 11:30. There were several other people waiting with us who were just as frustrated as we were. Why did we have to waste 1.5 hours just waiting?? The lines to get in were very short!

This place was magical, and the guide was very witty, and friendly and taught us a lot

Our tour guide was excellent and very informative. Improvement could be made to the entry process as it was quite chaotic, and difficult to make it known that we had arrangements for a tour at 11 AM without standing in the long line. There should be two areas, one for people making tour arrangemets at the Opera House, and one for those who already have their arrangements in hand.
