Follow our host and access the world's largest museum: the Louvre Museum.
Before becoming a museum in 1793, the Louvre was long one of the main residences of the kings of France. Located in the heart of Paris, covering an area of 73,000 m², it houses the world's largest collection of artworks, tracing over 9,000 years of history, from ancient civilizations to the 19th century. The collections are divided into eight departments: Egyptian Antiquities, Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities, Near Eastern Antiquities, Islamic Art, Paintings, Sculptures, Decorative Arts.
Meet your host at the Arc de Carrousel of the Louvre.
Thanks to your reserved access, he/she will lead you directly through the museum's masterpieces on a comprehensive orientation route.
Your itinerary includes the main highlights: the Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1506, the medieval foundations of the palace, ancient treasures such as the Venus de Milo and the Caryatids, a walkthrough of the Etruscan collections, Pharaonic Egypt with the Seated Scribe and a mummy, the Apollo Gallery and its jewels, major French paintings like Liberty Leading the People, royal art objects and Napoleon III’s apartments, as well as the Richelieu wing and its glorious French sculptures.
We will also explore the rich history of the ancient East through the civilizations of Mesopotamia, Syria, Persia, and Oriental Arts, true witnesses of the origins of writing, architecture, and culture.
