Skip-the-line Guided Tour of the Louvre Museum

(13 reviews)

Your priority access ticket will allow you to follow your guide straight into the world's largest museum. No need to stand in line! This guided tour offers the perfect opportunity to learn about the museum's huge collection and its greatest works of art, such as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Coronation of Napoleon.

Before it became a museum in 1793, the Louvre had long been one of the principle palaces of the Kings of France. Located right in the heart of Paris, the Louvre's galleries stretch for 786,000 square feet. It is home to the world's largest collection of art works, spanning more than 7,000 years from ancient civilizations to the 19th Century. The museum's collections are split into eight different departments: Egyptian antiquities, Greek, Etruscan & Roman antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Islamic art, Paintings, Sculptures, Decorative Arts, and Prints & Drawings.

Spend time discovering these collections with your guide, who will show you some of the museum's most famous works and tell you about the stories that lie behind them. Marvel at the Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1506, one of the most famous female portraits in the world; the Venus de Milo, a celebrated Greek sculpture dating from 100 BC depicting the goddess Aphrodite; or the giant 33-foot-long painting of the Coronation of Napoleon, painted in 1807 by Jacques-Louis David to commemorate the crowning of Napoleon Bonaparte in Notre Dame Cathedral.

After your guided tour, spend time exploring other parts of the museum at your own pace.

Chunyan, Tour Guide since 2015

The Louvre is one of the world's four great museums; it is approximately 15km in length, and has over 35,000 items. I would like to help my guests to experience the most inspirational journey of culture and art that they can in their limited visiting time. If you like, I am very willing to provide other very interesting sightseeing paths beyond the highlights.

The museum was packed, but it was fun! Our guide was wonderful!
Our guide for this tour was very knowledgeable and did a great job of showing us the highlights of this huge museum. The tour is unavoidably somewhat rushed, but this is because there is so much to see. This tour is a great way to go if you only have a few hours to see the Louvre. You are taken directly to the most important artworks and are given some interesting and informative background.
The guide was great, clearly passionate about arts and extremely informative. You can probably spend a week in the Louvre and not see everything, but we hit all the highlights (Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo of course--but many others too!) in just about 2 hours. The only negative was that the Louvre can get very hot/stuffy during summer days--even the barely hot ones. If you tend to run warm, bring cold water, towel, etc to keep yourself cool.
Best way to explore the museum for very limited time. The museum is very big and you can get lost without a guide. This tour is good if you only have a few hours to spare, and want to see the must pieces of art. The guide was very informative, knowledgeable, and patience.
Our guide was knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions, but the tour didn't cover as much as we expected. A longer tour would be recommended if you want to learn about the art work and artists.
I liked the humor.
The guided tour was worth every dollar we spent. The guide was extremely knowledgable & explained in detail the history behind every major exhibit & painting that the tour included. Most of the major exhibits were covered on this tour as well. Worth the money!!
It was shorter than expected.
Our guide was excellent!
Our Spanish guide was amazing, could not have chosen better guide who was so much fun and knowledgeable. Would highly recomend her though I forgot her name, she was the tour at 9:30on 5/13.
Excellent tour and guide
