The Loire Valley Chateaux are planning many events upon the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death. Visit the chateaux all day long and enjoy the current exhibitions in order to better understand the artist's life in France. Discover Leonardo da Vinci's last home, the Clos Lucé, which was offered to him by King Francis I. Visit the wonderful Château d'Amboise at your own pace where the painter lies in his chapel. Finally, explore the majestic Château de Chambord. The day will be punctuated by a delicious lunch in the city of Amboise.
Leave our Louvre agency at 06:45 am headed for Clos Lucé where you will immerse yourself in the last years of Leonardo da Vinci's life. Board a very comfortable minibus for a 2h30 trip during which you will be able to gaze at the beautiful landscapes of the Loire Valley. You will arrive at Clos Lucé around 9:30 am, where you will be able to take a walk on your own for an hour. Francis I and his wife Louise of Savoy offered this former royal residence to Leonardo da Vinci, who left Italy and was then named "First painter, engineer and architect of the King".
From June 7th to September 2nd, you will have the opportunity to see one of his most beautiful artworks, the tapestry of the Last Supper ("La Cène"-"L'Ultima Cena"), which will be exceptionally exhibited at Clos Lucé.

Visit the Château d'Amboise and the Saint-Hubert chapel where Leonardo da Vinci's grave is located. Thanks to your HistoPad tablet, you will be able to immerse yourself into the Renaissance era thanks to virtual reality, which allows you to reconstruct the place in 3D. You will also have the opportunity to see the exhibition "The Death of Leonardo da Vinci: The Construction of a Myth", from May 2nd to September 2nd, recounting the close relationship between King Francis I and the Italian painter. There, you will be able to see the famous painting by François-Guillaume Ménageot representing the death of Da Vinci, but also reproductions and engravings made by contemporary artists.
At lunchtime, go to a traditional French restaurant in the city of Amboise.

After this break, head towards Chambord. You will be impressed by the unique architecture of this amazing Chateau de Chambord.
