This guided tour will take you to the heart of Provence in France to visit three major cities in the region by minibus. You will discover the historic center of Aix en Provence, enjoy a panoramic tour of Marseille and end with a cruise in the Calanques of Cassis.
Depending on the excursion you choose, you will find our guide at either Aix-en-Provence station or at the Old Port in Marseille in front of the Radisson Blu hotel. It will take you through Provence in a comfortable air-conditioned minibus. Together you will travel to Aix-en-Provence through beautiful landscapes typical of the region and contemplate the beautiful lavender fields. Arriving in Aix, you will enjoy an hour-long guided walking tour in the historic center of the city. Enjoy a stroll in the pedestrian streets where you can admire the chic mansions, the buildings' beauty highlighted by their architecture. Aix-en-Provence and the surrounding landscapes were a major source of inspiration for the artistic works of Cézanne who lived there for many years. The motto "city of water, city of art" perfectly reflects the characteristics of Aix with a significant cultural and artistic heritage and renown as a spa town.
After this excursion, you will take the minibus to go to the city of Cassis located about fifty kilometers from Aix-en-Provence. You will discover a city full of charm located between sea and countryside. Board a boat and experience a magical moment; Cassis will delight you with its magnificent coves. The splendor of these coves are incomparable and are one of the characteristics of the Provence landscape. During this atypical cruise, you will discover an exceptional panorama of three coves in the hollow of the Cassis cliffs and small sandy beaches that can only be reached by boat. Back at the port, our driver-guide will take you to visit Marseille, a beautiful city full of colors. You will dive in the heart of the Phocaean city, the name that comes from the Greek sailors of Phocaea who discovered the city in 600 BC. Throughout this visit, our driver-guide will tell you the most amazing stories and anecdotes about the oldest city in France. During this city tour of Marseille, stops will be planned to offer you an incredible view. You will be able to contemplate the Frioul islands (Pomègues, Ratonneau, If, the Tiboulen islet) off Marseille which played a key role in the city's defense. A new stop in this panoramic tour has been added for you to visit the surprising Château d'If, made famous in Alexandre Dumas' novel "Count of Monte-Cristo" and which was a prison for 400 years. During another break, you will see the amazing Vallon des Auffes, a traditional small fishing port located in the Endoume district of Marseille. Finally, 30 minutes of free time is planned near Notre-Dame de la Garde which rises over the city. You will enjoy an extraordinary panoramic view of the city and sea and can visit this superb church.
Depending on the excursion you choose, our driver-guide will accompany you either to Saint-Charles station so that you can take the train for Paris, or leave you to allow you to continue your visit of Marseille in complete freedom.
