Audio Guided Tour of the Arc de Triomphe

  • Description

Located on Place de l'Étoile, the Arc de Triomphe is one of the largest arches in the world. In 1806, Napoleon I ordered its construction after the Battle of Austerlitz, in order to pay tribute to Napoleon's Great Imperial Army and to perpetuate the memory of French military victories. Thanks to our audio guided tour, discover the history and architecture of this symbolic monument.

Present yourself at our Louvre agency with your voucher. After collecting your entrance ticket and audiopen, you will head off to the Arc de Triomphe to discover the history of France. With its 50 meters high, this imposing monument inspired by ancient art offers a stunning panoramic view from the terrace, worth the effort of climbing its 284 steps. Once you are at the top of this emblematic Parisian building, you will admire the 12 avenues leaving in a star shape around the Arc. Each of them has a name commemorating the great history of France.

The perspective will reveal the impressive towers of the La Défense business district with La Grande Arche. You will also enjoy a privileged view on the Eiffel Tower, which will seem very close to you. You will see the most beautiful Parisian avenues, the Place de la Concorde, the Montparnasse Tower and even the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.

You’ll be able to visit the tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the arch. At the end of the First World War, an unknown soldier was buried under the monument and decorated with the Legion of Honour. It was a tribute to all the soldiers who died for France, commemorating the 1.3 million French soldiers who fell during World War I. Since 1920, associations of veterans or war victims have been rekindling the eternal flame every evening at 6:30 p.m.
