You’ll be able to visit the tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the arch. At the end of the First World War, an unknown soldier was buried under the monument and decorated with the Legion of Honour. It was a tribute to all the soldiers who died for France, commemorating the 1.3 million French soldiers who fell during World War I. Since 1920, associations of veterans or war victims have been rekindling the eternal flame every evening at 6:30 p.m.
